ABOUT NEIGHBOURHOOD
Yorkville is the ultimate in sophisticated urban living. The area sits adjacent to the downtown core, The Annex and The University of Toronto, making it a vibrant, diverse neighbourhood that offers the best of city living in a grand, historic environment.
The area is known as one of Canada’s most exclusive shopping and dining districts. The stretch along Bloor Street has been coined the Mink Mile, one of the world’s most expensive collection of retail space. Yorkville is home to Canada’s first five star hotel, The Royal Ontario Museum and Toronto’s largest public library, the Toronto Reference Library.
Just north of the office towers, bustling retail and some of Toronto’s most expensive luxury condominiums you will find original Victorian and Edwardian mansions that were built between 1880 and 1900. More than 500 buildings in the Yorkville area are protected by the Historical Board of Toronto, and local by-laws prohibit further high-rise development.
As you might imagine from a next-to-downtown neighbourhood, Yorkville is well-served by public transit, with subways whisking residents to all four points of the compass and has an extremely high “walkability” score.
